DUBROVNIK · CROATIA
Limestone walls, terracotta roofs, the Adriatic out front.
The walled Old Town and the islands around it. Blue Cave boat days, Elaphite cruises, sea kayaks along the walls. Day trips to Mostar, Kotor and Mljet when you want a passport stamp with lunch.
The Adriatic boat day
The boat day everyone books.
Most travellers in the Old Town walk the walls on day one and step onto a boat by day two. The cave, the swim stop, the long sail back past the city from the sea side.
The classics
Dubrovnik’s Most Popular Day Tours
Blue Cave, Elaphite Islands, the Old Town walking circuit, Game of Thrones, Mostar and Kotor across the borders. The trips most travellers come for.
Three day trips out
Three countries within an arm’s reach.
Dubrovnik sits in a thin strip of Croatia between Bosnia and Montenegro. You can stamp out, see something, and stamp back in time for dinner on the Stradun. Plus the forested island that’s just — Croatia, doing it differently.
Inside the walls
Three ways to read the walled city.
The walls themselves, the screen-fame that brought everyone back in the 2010s, and the everyday Old Town life inside. Three threads of the same Pearl of the Adriatic.
Two kilometres around
The City Walls
The walls run 1,940 metres around the Old Town, climbing 25 metres above the sea on the south side. The Venetians built them up over four centuries; the Ottomans never breached them. The full circuit takes ninety minutes if you stop for photos, which you will. Worth the early start before the cruise ships dock.

King’s Landing on screen
Game of Thrones
Most of King’s Landing was filmed here. The Walk of Shame down Jesuit Stairs, the Red Keep on Lovrijenac, the harbour scenes from Pile Gate. Eight seasons of filming threaded through streets you can still walk in an afternoon. The dedicated tours hit the dozen marker spots and explain which scene happened where.

The Stradun and the alleys
Inside the Old Town
The Stradun runs the length of the limestone-paved main street, polished smooth by seven hundred years of footsteps. Off it: Onofrio’s fountain, the Rector’s palace, the Franciscan monastery with the third-oldest pharmacy in Europe. A guided walk fills in what plaques don’t — siege history, plague history, the day the city went republic.
